The CEPA Board of Directors consists of 8 members who represent the public sector, international development agencies, and independent expertise. Directors are initially elected for 2 years with the possibility re-election, for a maximum period of 6 years. The Board of Directors meet quarterly to oversee, steer and review the performance of the Centre. According to the Article of Association the Chairperson is selected from the group of independent experts. | |||||
Sunil Bastian, Chairperson | |||||
Mr. Bastian is a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Ethnic Studies (ICES). He has been working as a researcher and development consultant for the past 20 years. His main areas of interest are the social impact of development processes and politics of market economy. | |||||
Murtaza Esufally, Deputy Chairperson | |||||
Mr Esufally is a Barrister at Law and a Director of Hemas Holdings Ltd, a diversified conglomerate. He also possesses an MBA from the University of Melbourne. | |||||
Prof. Savitri Goonesekere, Deputy Chairperson | |||||
Prof. Goonesekere is an Emeritus Professor of Law and a Director of the Centre for Women's Research (CENWOR). | |||||
Rohantha Athukorala, Director | |||||
Mr. Athukorala has 15 years of combined private and public sector experience. Currently he is the Director of Economic Affairs at the Government Peace Secretariat (SCOPP) whilst reading for a doctoral degree. | |||||
Asoka S Gunawardena, Director (from October 2008) | |||||
Mr Gunawardena is a governance specialist with particular interest in decentralization and sub-national government. He is the Chairman of the Finance Commission. | |||||
Markus Meyer, PhD, Director | |||||
Dr. Mayer holds a Ph.D in Development Geography from the University of Heidelberg, Germany and served as the currently the Country Director of International Alert in Sri Lanka. | |||||

Ms Suranjana Vidyaratne is the Director-General of the Department of Census and Statistics. | |||||
Dushni Weerakoon, PhD, Director | |||||
Dr. Weerakoon holds a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Manchester, U.K. and is currently the Deputy Director of the Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS). | |||||
